Yes – You’ll always get a better price and experience booking direct with us. Other sites may claim to have the lowest price but that’s only for the specific offer that they list including things like the cancellation period.

By far, the best value stays are in September. We have low occupancy so we have to drop our prices but the weather is normally still fabulous. If you visit in low season (early March or November) you’ll get some of our best rates.

Unfortunately the government in the U.K. sets school holiday dates so that most schools are on holiday at the same time. This means that we have to make 60% of our revenue in these 12 weeks. If the government staggered school holidays evenly across the year we could drop our peak season prices and even out our pricing. It would life a lot easier for everyone.

We try to run a camp fire evening at least once a week during the late spring, summer and early autumn when the evening will be dry. Sometimes we have to cancel if the forecast is for rain.

If we’re not running a camp fire please feel free to use the camp fire area yourselves. Please ask if you need wood and we can supply it by the bag.

Absolutely! Just be careful not to venture into the boggy areas.

We feed the animals with guests every Tues, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. We meet outside the conservatory at 9AM. If no one turns up we make a start anyway. If you’re late just find us and join in.

Guests can use the rabbit and guinea pig petting area at any time during daylight hours. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This is to ensure that the pets are not mishandled. There are always rabbits out in the petting area. Please don’t let the other rabbits out as they will fight with those already out. If you let out the guinea pigs please make sure they are secured in their hutch before you leave. We have owls on site!

The first is in the hazel tree up near the yurt field. The next hangs from the big beech tree down near the ponds in the valley. The last (and best) swing is also near the clay face making area and is over 20 feet long!

The entrance to the art room is the white double doors in the big barn up near the chicken coop. No muddy wellies inside please!

The life jackets are kept in the art room. Please make sure that anyone using the rowing boat is wearing a life jacket.

The clay faces activity is at the far end of our land down near the stream and the route to Dunsland Park. This page provides a map of Puddleduck Valley.

We’d prefer it if guests didn’t collect wood from the forest or our woods. We leave a lot of dead wood on the ground and in the trees to encourage insect life. If this is removed it will reduce the biodiversity of Puddleduck Valley. If you want wood for a camp fire just ask us and we’ll supply you with a bag.

You can then arrange with them exactly what you want to do; there's a range of options from a beginner's session in the menage up to a hack on Dartmoor. They will need to know how many people want to ride, the dates you have in mind and everyone’s skill level.

You can store bikes in our locked workshop. Just ask us and we’ll unlock for you.

The permanent accommodation (Appleloft Suite, Stables cottage & Buttermilk cottage) all have their own allocated parking spaces. Parking for the yurts is in the car park in the valley.

Recycling should be added to the large recycling bins near the big barn / greenhouse. Landfill bags can be left here and we will add them to our bins. Food waste should be added to the small food waste bins outside your accommodation. We will collect these on Monday evenings and return them Tuesday morning.
